2020 $20 FINE SILVER COIN
BILL REID
- In honour of the 100th anniversary of the artist's birth, this is a 1 oz. fine silver version of the 2020 $2 commemorative circulation coin that puts the iconic art of Bill Reid (1920-1998) into your pockets and in the palm of your hand.
- The artwork featured on the coin originally appeared on a ceremonial drum, one of several designed by Bill Reid in 1988. The grizzly bear was adapted for reproduction as a silkscreen print, with copies sold to raise money for Artists for Kids. As for the original drum, it is part of the Artists for Kids permanent collection.
- The engraved design is enhanced with traditional Haida colours (red, white and black) to match the original artwork.
- It's all about the art: A text-free reverse honours Bill Reid's ceremonial drum design and keeps the focus solely on the art.
