| A NON-TYPICAL CIV GAME WITH CLEVER GAME MECHANICS | |
| Gentes is a game about civilization but not a civilization game as such, in the way it plays it is more of a euro / worker placement. Except that you’re not really placing workers, you’re taking tiles representing actions available, and in so doing making less available to your opponents. A long winded way of saying I’m not sure how to categorize this. You have to determine what professions are important for your citizens and you need to gather the (very important) civilization cards, whilst expanding and building. Everything you do takes time, and you can opt to, effectively, have extra time available to you on your current turn, but with the result of less time for actions in the future. The components and artwork are all OK - nothing wrong with them, but maybe a little bland for my taste. There is quite a lot to this game, in terms of depth, that is not immediately obvious. This feels like a very clever game, and after a couple of plays I feel like I am just scratching the surface in a strategic sense, and already it is enjoyable. This is a difficult game to review or explain without writing a lot and so I suspect I am not doing it justice. It is an enjoyable and clever game that I would certainly recommend. |

| Excellent jeu avec des mécanismes de sélection d'actions, de gestion, de prise de territoires... qui est doté d'un système de points d'actions très original avec une thématique de "temps". 90% des actions choisies viennent avec une contrainte de temps sous forme de sablier, souvent 1 seul mais parfois 2. Ces sabliers occupent un ou plusieurs espaces sur votre ligne du temps personnel ( ce qui détermine le nombre d'actions possibles ) donc il faut bien gérer ses actions en maximisant chacune d'elles tout au long de la partie. Bref, une surprise pleine d'originalité et de revirements, dans le bon sens du terme ! | |

| Civilisation en pleine méditérannée | |
| Gentes est un jeu de civilisation qui innove dans sa mécanique avec la gestion de temps. Nous devons sélectionner une action, en payer le coût et de plus gérer nos sabliers pour ne pas manquer de temps. C'est au final un style euro qui sera séduire les amateurs de jeu stratégique avec ces différences particulières qui sont tout autant plaisantes. | |
