Description
Hoplomachus is a gladiatorial combat board game set during the Roman Empire. This game uses an incredible set of game mechanics that make it an extremely fun and unique turn-based strategy game. Chips are drawn out of a bag to then be selectively used on the game mat. These units and tactics (chips) are controlled by you as you compete for control of the arena. The basics of this game can be learned quickly, but that's only the beginning. Hoplomachus challenges you to plan, risk, and adapt each turn. Rise of Rome introduces you to the cities of Rome and Pompeii, each with its own strengths.
Rise of Rome can be played solo, co-op, or head-to-head. It's a stand alone game for 1-2 players but with the original game in hand, you are able to unlock 2 v 2 and 4-player free for all modes!

| Excellent solo | |
| Le solo offre des défis intéressants. La courbe d'apprentissage est rapide. Pas si cher si on considère la qualité des composantes; pas besoin de "sleeves" ou d'organisateur. Le jeu est très beau, facile à sortir et à ranger. Les parties s'enchaînent rapidement. Hoplomachus est beaucoup moins complexe que TMB. | |

| Ne vous fiez pas au titre, Hoplomachus est un excellent jeu. Il faut toutefois savoir que ce n'est pas pour la quantité de matériel que vous payez le gros prix, mais bien pour la qualité du matériel que vous avez dans la boite. Tout ce qu'il y a dans ce jeu c'est des chips de poker de grande qualité et un tapis en caoutchouc. A oui, quelques dés bien banales. Coté gameplay, c'est un jeu de combat gladiateur qui peut se jouer, 1 vs 1, coop 1, 2 ou 3, ou encore en solo. C'est très simple, assez rapide et super amusant et stressant par bout. Beaucoup de hasard car on résout les combats avec des dés. Très tactique, pas mal de réflexion et d'anticipation. J'aime beaucoup. Le prix fait baisser la note toutefois. Mais pour ceux qui peuvent se payer ce genre de luxe, ce n'est certainement pas un facteur déterminant. | |
