The First Europeans to Greet The New World
The first Europeans to explore the New World were known most infamously as brutal warriors, and only more recently as great explorers. The Vikings were seafaring Norse explorers whose great expansion spanned from the eighth centuy to the eleventh. Over the course of three hundred years, they would explore and build settlements across northern Europe, Great Britain, Ireland, Greenland, Iceland, and the East Coast of Canada.
This coin is part of the 200-dollar coin collection which began in 1990. A coin has been released every year sincethen. However, the Royal Canadian Mint has released many sub-series in this collection.
