Golden hues on the wing
A cheerful chirping song from a tree in an open space may help you to spot an American Goldfinch (Carduelistristis). The bright, canary-yellow of the black-capped male willstand out against the landscape, while the more olive-hued female will likely be overlooked.
However, when seen at bird-feeders across southern Canada late in the year, the male Goldfinch will no longerhave the bright yellow that's so strongly associated with it. The colours of both males and females will be much more subdued; predominantly olive-brown with touches of pale yellow, white and black.

This coin is the fifth issue of the Birds of Canada collection that currently has thirteen coins, issued from 2007 to 2014.
It is possible for you to store the Birds collection in a box for 24 coins of up to 34mm.
