Virgin Islands - United in Pride and Hope
This uncirculated quarter(BU) was released in 2009 to commemorate the incorporation of American Virgin islands in the United States in 1927, becominga United States territory. The coin features an outline of the three major islands, the Yellow Breast or Bananaquit, its official bird; the Yellow Cedar or Yellow Elder, the official flower; and a Tyre Palm Tree with the inscriptions U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS and United in Pride and Hope, the official motto of the territory.
This coin is part of the DC and US Territories serie which conclude the 50 states quarters serie.
Coins with the "P" mint mark were minted in Philadelphia and coins with "D" mint mark were minted in Denver.
