1965 Uncirculated Proof-Like Set - Variety I (Cent : Small beads, Pointed 5 / Dollar : Small beads, Pointed 5)

Composition :
1 cent : 98% copper, 0.05% tin, 1.5% zinc
5 cents : Nickel
10 cents : 80% silver, 20% copper
25 cents : 80% silver, 20% copper
50 cents : 80% silver, 20% copper
1 dollar : 80% silver, 20% copper

It was in 1953 that the uncirculated proof-like sets were released. From 1953 to 1960, these sets were wrapped in a simple cellophane sheet and placed ona plain white sheet of paper. In 1961, the Royal Canadian Mint decided to alter the packaging. The new sets were to be sealed in between 2 sheets of pliofilm and placed inside a protective envelope. This form of packaging is still being used today. Throughout the years, certain modifications were made in the presentation of the products. The coinsshown in the uncirculated proof-like sets are identical to the ones released to the public during their respective years. However, the coins chosen for these sets have been carefully inspected and are therefore defect free. 

In 1965, 4 varieties of the 1-cent coin and 5 varieties of the 1-dollar coin were produced. Five of these combinations will be found in the proof-like sets.
