From civil rights to social policies and personal freedoms, its independent and impartial rulings have a profound impact on our nation and provide the legal foundation for the strong and democratic country we know today.

In honour of the 150th anniversary of the Supreme Court of Canada, the new $1 circulation coin serves as a shining tribute to its unwavering dedication to the rule of law, and its service to Canadians—past, present, and future.

It is Canada’s highest court, and court of last resort – the impartial arbiter in legal matters of public importance; the final authority in the application of our laws; and the upholder of the rights of all Canadians.

In 2025, the Supreme Court of Canada marks the 150th anniversary of its creation (on April 8, 1875), a significant milestone commemorated on the $1 coins contained in each Special Wrap Roll. Inside every Uncoloured Special Wrap Roll, all 25 coins bear the same engraved design that honours the Court’s history and continuing contributions to Canada’s legal landscape and democracy, specifically its role in upholding the rule of law, building public trust, and serving Canadians.

As Canada’s top court recognizes its 150th year in 2025, the $1 150th Anniversary of the Supreme Court of Canada commemorative circulation coin marks the occasion with an inspiring view of the building where the nation’s highest court resides.

➢ Each roll contains 25 engraved-only (no colour) $1 coins that come rolled up in a custom paper wrap.
➢ The Supreme Court of Canada’s 150th commemorative logo is prominently featured on each coin’s reverse.
➢ All 25 coins are uncirculated: they all have a newly minted quality.
➢ A view of the reverse design, visible on one or both ends of the roll. The production process and quality assurance for uncirculated Special Wrap Rolls allows for either the reverse design on both ends, or the reverse design on one end and the obverse on the other. It is not possible for the Mint to guarantee or foresee which of the two versions will be shipped.
➢ A Coloured Special Wrap Roll is also available. Collect both versions!
