Float Planes on the Mackenzie River
Based on a photograph captured by Canadian nature photographer Adam Hill,the reverse travels to the Northwest Territories where the beauty of the untamed wilderness takes centre stage. The application of vibrant colour over engraving allows for a life - lik e recreation of the original photograph, which captures a tranquil setting in the land of the midnight sun. Two float planes rest on the calm surface of the Mackenzie River, not far from the lights of Fort Simpson, N.W.T., seen in thedistance. The northern sky steals the show in the background, where the aurora borealis light up the night with green and blue hues dancingin the sky above.
This coin is the sixth issue of Celebrating Canada's 150th collection. A total of 13 coins, representing the 13 Canadian provinces and territories, will be released every month between June 2016 and July 2017.
