In the Eye of the Snowstorm

In theamber light of the crackling fire, children huddle cozily before the hearth, still and calm in the warm, dark room. Beyond the frosty windowpanes, the first snowstorm of the season blows mesmerizing dervishes of icy crystals through a dark, starless night sky. Tonight, the children's dreams will be visited by clutches of swirling snowflakes, twirling like frenzied dancers at a winter ball, sparkling like bouquets of jewelled flowers - no two alike, each a universe of symmetrical beauty.

Tomorrow morning, they will awaken to a new world. The faded yellow lawn and barren tree limbs dotting their backyard will be covered with a soft blanket of new snow. And then the fun willbegin!
