The Dalton Brothers
5th medal of the series 75th anniversary of Lucky Luke.
The series includes Jolly Jumper, Rantanplan, Calamity Jane, the Grave Digger, the Dalton Brothers, Ma Dalton, Joe Dalton, Billy the Kid, Lucky Luke and Morris & Lucky Luke.
To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the fastest trigger in the West, the Monnaie de Paris launches in 2021 a collection of colourful mini-medals to the characters figures from Morris' comic strip.
The four Dalton brothers are the most famous bandits of the West. Joe, Jack, William and Avrel crisscross the West in search of riches to steal (when they don't spend their time smashing rocks in the penitentiary).
Translating comic book characters is an interesting but perilous exercise. The transition from comic strip to volume must faithfully transcribe the clear line of Morris and Achdé's work. These medals are the faithful representation of a graphic line proper to the Franco-Belgian artist, it is a tribute in three dimensions paid by the craftsmen of Monnaie de Paris to the universe of Lucky Luke.
