The successor to the Royal Canadian Mint’s Big Coin series of 5 oz 99.99% pure silver coins, The Bigger Picture zooms in on Canada’s classic circulation coin designs and zooms out to reveal a much bigger story. The expanded scene on the fifth Bigger Picture coin offers a privileged view of the Arctic, where a female polar bear joins ‘Churchill‘, the Toonie’s mascot, glimpsing a seal in the water beneath the sun and sundogs in the sky.

 A different view of a classic. Brent Townsend’s $2 coin design made its debut over 25 years ago on this 5 oz coin, it has been creatively re-imagined by an Inuvialuk artist, as a portion of a new, expanded story that puts a fresh spin on a collector favourite.
 Coin #5. This is the fifth coin in a six part series that shows Canada’s classic circulation coin designs in a whole new way.
 5 oz 99.99% pure silver. Each coin in this series features a diameter of 65.25 mm (the same as the Big Coin series), which provides lots of room for elaborate art and complex engraving - including a maple leaf field pattern on the obverse.
 Selective gold plating. The $2 circulation design is selectively gold-plated to mimic the bi-metallic look of the ‘Toonie‘.
