2021 $50 FINE SILVER COINS SET
THE FIRST 100 YEARS OF CONFEDERATION
Complete collection of the series The First 100 Years of Confederation.
- In the first 100 years of Confederation, the story of Canada was shaped by our efforts to bridge distances and come together — first by rail, then by sea, and finally, by air. It is the story that unfolds in the Royal Canadian Mint’s The First 100 Years of Confederation series, a three-part celebration of some of the mechanized history makers that helped shape a modern Canada.
- History on the move. This is Coin #1 of 3 in a new limited series that tells the story of Canada’s first 100 years (1867-1967). Each chapter is represented by a different mode of transportation and art style.
Coin #1: An Emerging Country
It presents a glimpse of Canada in the railway era (1867-1914). These were the years in which the locomotive — like the historic 4-4-0 one featured on this coin — was the driver of progress, and when transcontinental railways were the ribbons of steel that wrapped around almost every aspect of life in Canada.
Coin #2: Coming of Age
It presents a symbol of a Canada's new-found standing on the world stage after the First World War (1914-1918). Art deco elements surround the depiction of HMCS Saguenay; built in 1931, the vessel was one of the first warships built for the Royal Canadian Navy before the naval service's rapid expansion during the Second World War (1939-1945).
Coin #3: Canada Takes Wing
This coin's reverse features a symbol of Canada's high stature on the world stage during the post-war years (1945-1967).Canada's famous bush plane, the de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver, is rendered in a pop art style.
- Art nouveau style. Let the art guide you: each design is rendered in a different art style that channels the spirit of the era, beginning with the art nouveau movement that flourished at the end of the 19th century.
- Five effigies on one coin. The obverse features the effigies of five monarchs whose combined reigns span a century of change. Each effigy is accompanied by a Latin inscription stating the monarch’s name and royal title, as seen on some of Canada’s most historic coins.
- You will also get this FREE case to display your coins together as one complete set.
THE FIRST 100 YEARS OF CONFEDERATION - 3-COIN COMPLETE COLLECTION - 2021 CANADIAN COINS is categorised COINS AND PAPER MONEY / 08- ROYAL CANADIAN MINT / 13- CANADIAN HISTORY and sold by l'Imaginaire, a store and specialised website.
