Description
Barn Owl
People have long feared me because of my unusual facial features and preference to fly and huntat night. My black eyes are rare for owls and the dark markings around them make them stand out against my white heart-shaped face hauntinggood looks if you ask me!
Centuries before European explorers arrived in North America, I was already well-known in the Old World for living in church steeples and barn lofts. After all, that's where the mice were ! And when settlers began clearing fields on this side of the Atlantic, I was quick to take advantage of the new habitat they created in southern British Columbia and southern Ontario. Idon't enjoy Canada's snow and winter temperatures, so you'll only see me in its southernmost parts. Other than that, you'llfind me on every continent of the world, except Antarctica, of course.
This coin is the first issue of the Wildlife conservation series.
The first coin of the series, released in July 2010, depicts the Barn owl.
The second coin of the series, released in November 2010, depicts the Polar bear.
The third coin of the series, released in March 2011, depicts the Orca whale.
The fourth and the last coin of the series, released in July 2011, depicts the Black-footed ferret.
WILDLIFE CONSERVATION - BARN OWL - 2010 CANADIAN COINS 01 is categorised COINS AND PAPER MONEY / 08- ROYAL CANADIAN MINT / 10- FLORA, FAUNA & NATURE and sold by l'Imaginaire, a store and specialised website.
