Description
Polar bear
I am the largest terrestrial carnivore in the world. Scientist have placed me in the marine mammal group because I live primarily on the frozen sea ice and feed almost excusively on the seals that swim below it. While I may feed on avariety of seal species as well as belugas or narwal. ringed seals are my favorite.
Scientist believe that perhaps 100,000 to 250,000 years ago I was a land mammal living along the coast of Siberia. I became isolated by glaciers and over time, developed many of myphysical traits specifically to live and hunt on the sea ice. Albeit frozen, that world isn not fixed. It shares an intricate connection with the rest of the globe; is influenced by actions that seem distant, far away. The sea ice is now changing. And so must I.
This coin is the second issue of the Wildlife conservation series.
The first coin of the series, released in July 2010, depicts the Barn owl.
The second coin of the series, released in November 2010, depicts the Polar bear.
The third coin of the series, released in March 2011, depicts the Orca whale.
The fourth and the last coin of the series, released inJuly 2011, depicts the Black-footed ferret.
WILDLIFE CONSERVATION - POLAR BEAR - 2010 CANADIAN COINS 02 is categorised COINS AND PAPER MONEY / 08- ROYAL CANADIAN MINT / 10- FLORA, FAUNA & NATURE and sold by l'Imaginaire, a store and specialised website.

Je n'encourage personne à investir dans l'argent plaqué or... mais une fois n'est pas coutume! C'est une TRÈS belle pièce à ajouter à une collection |
