This catalog is published on the occasion of the presentation of Inbox, an installation by Enki Bilal at the Biennale of Contemporary Art in Venice, from May 7 to August 2, 2015.

In the catalog will be reproduced the two paintings that are inside the installation, and other paintings and drawings on the same subject, with texts and photos by Bilal taken in Venice during the assembly. Here we find the passionate and dark romanticism which characterizes his work.

The artist insists on the fragility and uncertainties of our visual memory, on the ambivalence and materiality of images. He insists on the need to concentrate on the present moment, and to appeal to the viewer's sensitivity and intuitive resources. They will thus be able to immerse themselves in the heart of the work, in a poetics that is both physical and mental.

Eric Leroy, Artcurial Comics expert, who initiated the project, adds: “Enki Bilal at the Venice Biennale once again proves the internationalization of his work and his reputation beyond our borders. With this installation, Enki Bilal surprises us again and shows us that he touches all mediums.”
