This enduring symbol of national pride is adorned with a flowing ribbon and 3 smaller leaves to mark the year 2000. The coin was designed by Donald F.Warkentin of Winnipeg, Manitoba, one of over 66 000 Canadians who shared their hopes and dreams for the next millennium in the royal Canadian Mint's ''Create a Centsation!'' coin design contest.
