ACanadian celebration of mind, body and will
Freestyle skiing is relatively new to the Olympic Winter Games. Moguls became an official discipline at the Albertville 1992 Olympic Winter Games in France. Aerial manoeuvres - always a crowd favourite - were added at the Lillehammer 1994 Olympic Winter Games in Norway. Tricks in freestyle skiing are both breathtaking and dangerous. They include the twister, spread-eagle, iron cross, and the helicopter - an upright 360-degree spin. Canadians won gold and silver medals at Lillehammer's inaugural aerials event. Canada's most recent Olympic Freestyle Skiing medal, a goldin women's moguls, came at the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Italy.
From 2007 to 2010, fifteen twenty-five cent coins were issued to celebrate the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games. The series include ten winter sports designs, two paralympic special issues and three designs that represent previous Canadian Winter Olympics medals. Also, two Lucky Loon were issued as a good luck symbol to support canadian athletes in 2008 and 2010.
