Although appleproduction was cultivated to impressive heightsm it wasn't until the 1930's that the full potential of its natural ressource as a tourist attraction was recognized and the first official Annapolis Valley AppleBlossom Festival was held in 1933
Signalling the end of another long winter, the apple blossom always ushered in a festive time for the entire Valley. Today, the region's early traditions continue to behonoured as elected princesses from every apple-growing community came together in a pageant to select Queen Annapolisa - an event that is the cornerstone of the four-day celebration and is a symbolic of the rebirth of spring.
The festival also boasts some of Canada's largest parades and a variety of shows, fireworks, exhibits, and outdoor concerts guaranteed to captivate children and rejuvenate the young at heart when springtime blossoms fill the air.
