Description
Composition : 99,999% or
Mintage : 1,865
White bouquets to brighten the shade
The distinctive shape of its three large petals is hard to resist - but do not pick this floral gem. To do so will destroy the trillium's ability to bloom for several years, an injury that has turned Ontario's once highly visible floral emblem (adopted 1937) into a rare prize indeed. Trillium grandiflorum once dominated Ontario's landscape, blooming throughout its southern regions and far north as Lake Nipissing. From late April to the end of May, the shade of Ontario's deciduous forests is illuminated with large white blooms. As these petals fade, they turn to various shades of pinkbefore giving way to red berries.
This coin is the eighth issue of the Provincial floral emblems of Canada series and contains 13 coins that have been released between 1998 and 2010.
CANADIAN FLORAL EMBLEMS - THE WHITE TRILLIUM, ONTARIO - 2003 CANADIAN COINS 06 is categorised COINS AND PAPER MONEY / 08- ROYAL CANADIAN MINT / 25- GOLD, PLATINE & PALLADIUM COINS and sold by l'Imaginaire, a store and specialised website.
