Description
2015 $5 MARINE LIFE PROTECTION: WHITETAIL DAMSELFISH
STERLING SILVER COIN
4th coin of the series Marine Life Protection.
The series includes blue-ringed octopus, synchiropus splendidus, yellow boxfish and whitetail damselfish.
This series of sterling silver proof coins features vibrantly coloured marine life that is so lifelike it appears to be swimming off the coin. Mintages are exceptionally low, at just 1,500 for each coin.
The fish occur in large generation-spanning, groups that live in the vicinity of corals, which play a key role in providing shelter and safety. When in danger, the entire group hides among the coral branches. The black and white striped Dascyllus aruanus, or whitetail damselfish, commonly reaches a size of around 6 cm, but can grow up to 10 cm in length. Its main habitat are shallow waters, often near stony corals, in the Indo-Pacific region.
MARINE LIFE PROTECTION - WHITETAIL DAMSELFISH - 2015 REPUBLIC OF PALAU COINS 04 is categorised COINS AND PAPER MONEY / 14- FOREIGN COINS / VARIOUS and sold by l'Imaginaire, a store and specialised website.
