The Coronation of King Charles III Canadian Bronze Medallion

His Majesty King Charles III has officially authorized this limited edition bronze medallion for Canadians to commemorate the May 6, 2023 Coronation.  Engraved by retired Royal Canadian Mint Senior Engraver Susan Taylor, the obverse features a new effigy of His Majesty wearing the Imperial State Crown together with the King’s Royal Cypher. 
The reverse features the May 6th, 2023 date of the coronation together with a wreath of six Canadian maple leaves encircling St. Edward’s Crown.  Each maple leaf represents one of the Kings and Queens of Canada since confederation:  Queen Victoria, King Edward VII, King George V, King George VI, Queen Elizabeth II, and now King Charles III.  St. Edward’s Crown is the central motif, as it has been used for the formal coronation ceremony of British monarchs for more than 700 years.
The medallion has a 37 mm diameter and a brilliant finish.  It is presented in a 2x2 acrylic Quadrum together with a certificate of authenticity.  Mintage is limited to just 5,000 pieces. 
Medals or medallions have been issued for the coronation of every British monarch for more than five centuries, and this attractive coin continues the long tradition.
