QUEEN ELIZABETH II'S REIGN

Always facing right, the portraits of Queen Elizabeth II have been a fixture on the obverse of Canadian coins since her coronation in 1953, and each one captured a different era of her reign. All four appear on the obverse and reverse of this 5 oz. 99.99% pure silver coin from the Royal Canadian Mint. Its reverse design presents an elegant retrospective of the Canadian coin effigies of “Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom, Canada and Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith.”

 All four effigies of Queen Elizabeth II are featured on this coin’s obverse and reverse—both sides.
 One of two 5 oz. coins that are the largest (65.25 mm) pieces in the Queen Elizabeth II’s Reign collection.
 The ornamental flourish on the coin’s reverse includes emblems of Canada (maple leaf) and the United Kingdom (Tudor rose, shamrock, thistle and daffodil).
 Marked by a small Tudor rose, the tribute obverse combines the four effigies that have graced Canadian coins since Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953. This obverse is only featured on the numismatic coins in the Queen Elizabeth II’s Reign collection.
