Description
Grotesque Foliated Green Man
Engraved in ultra-high relief, the coin features an original depiction by Dominion Sculptor Phil White of a Gothic-style grotesque interpreted from a carving found on the East Block of the Parliament Buildings. The imageportrays a Green man disgorging stylized “stiff-leaf” foliage from its mouth. The staring figure’s brows and hair are also composed of whirling, stylized leaves and stems.
This coinis the second issue of the Sculptural Art of Parliament collection.
The first coin of the series, released in January 2016, depicts the Grotesque Wild Green Man.
The second coin of the series, released in April 2016, depicts the Grotesque Foliated Green Man.
The third and the lastcoin of the series, released in July 2016, depicts the Grotesque Horned Green Man.
