StarTrek(TM) : Scotty
A precursor to today’s smartphones, the communicator featured on Star Trek was often used by the characters to contact Chief Engineer Montgomery “Scotty” Scott (played by Canadian actor James Doohan) and request to be beamed back on board the U.S.S. Enterprise. Both the character and the device are showcased together on this fine silver coin, as the Royal Canadian Mint celebrates the 50th anniversary of Star Trek.
This coin is the second issue of the Star Trek(TM) collection.
The first coin of the series, released in May 2016, depicts Captain Kirk.
The second coin of the series, released in July 2016, depicts Scotty.
The third coin of the series, released in August 2016, depicts Uhura.
The fourth and the last coin of the series, released in September 2016, depicts Spock.
