You have finally set out to find the truth. You’ve heard the rumors of ancient runes and the lost pages of a scattered tome that tell of ancient and evil monstrosities; calling for their return. You’ve heard tales of those who came before you in this search losing grip on their sanity as they grew nearer to the truth. As you press on you can’t help but notice that you feel less attached to reality yourself. Some days you lose track of time and can’t account for hours of the day. The whispers of secret gates to another world are growing stronger, and while no one knows who is building them... You have a dreadful hunch...
Could you be the hidden architect of the Gates of Delirium?
In Gates of Delirium, players will have a hand of split action cards: one side sane, and the other insane. Every round, one player will decide if it is a sane or insane round, and all players must play that side of their cards. During sane rounds, players will be searching for maps and lost pages to a secret tome, while assigning investigators to help them in their cause. During insane rounds, players collect ancient runes and work to build Gates to release the monstrosities that their sane selves have been trying so hard to understand and prevent. Earn the most victory points by the time the last monstrosity is released to be the winner in Gates of Delirium.

| Gates of delirium en français: Cthulhu aux portes de l’horreur. Donc oui oui encore un jeu sur Cthulhu, la license HP Lovecraft était gratuite, de nombreux jeux ont ce fameux thème. Des classiques comme Arkham Horreur et Eldritch Horreur et l’excellent Mansion of madness. La plupart des jeux de ce thème sont excellents car l’histoire, l’univers apporte beaucoup! Certains jeux exploitent moins le thème que d’autres, exemple Elder signs, signe des anciens le yahtzee eldritch horror… manquant de « flavor text » et d’ambience pour beaucoup. Gates of delirum se situe entre les deux, je dirais. Ce n’est pas le jeu avec le thème le plus exploité mais il respecte quand même l’univers et le principe fait du sens. On joue ainsi des cultistes ayant pour but de faire apparaitre les montres démoniaques pour détruire l’univers, au fait le jeu n’est pas officielement licensé hp lovecraft donc on ne voit pas clairement cthulhu et autres même si c’est clairement le cas. Donc nous avons ainsi un petit jeu assez simple de contrôle de territoire et autres mécaniques. La principale est qu’à chaque tour le premier jouer détermine si non joue du côté « insane » ou sane (fou ou sein d’esprit) et il faut choisir nos cartes en conséquences, assez unique et original. C’est pas le meilleur jeu du monde, ni le plus complexe mais il a son style. | |
