Description

In River Valley Glassworks, you either place a token from your hand onto one of 6 river tiles and collect tokens from one of the two adjacent river tiles, or you take tokens from the lake to replenish your supply. Tokens collected are slotted into your player board according to color or scarcity.  Points are scored based on completed rows and scored for your two tallest columns, with ties broken in favor of the lowest or furthest left columns.

Played three 2-player games back-to-back on BGA. Surprisingly cutthroat! Took until the second game before the strategy really clicked. Found the balance of trying to score rows vs columns intriguing, especially since one can hinder the other - and trying to mask which one you're prioritizing adds to the interaction. I went in skeptical, but the gameplay really sold me. (I could see the amount the board changes between turns being frustrating at higher player counts, though - no ability to set up your future turns.)
