Description
Welcome Heroes! Many magnificent contestants have signed up for the tournament but only a handful will be chosen to join the the Tidal Blades, the elite guards of our island realm. To succeed in the Tournament and be chosen as a Tidal Blade, you must compete in Challenges held in the 3 Arenas, rise to the top of the Champion’s Board, and protect the realm from the ever increasing threat of the Monsters from the mysterious Fold.
It has been fifteen years since the Great Battle; 15 years since the Arcanists from the Citadel of Time made their terrible choice and created the Fold; 15 years since the last assemblage of Tidal Blades. The Arcanists folded space and time to stop the onslaught of creatures from the depths, but now new Monsters have appeared, the hard-earned days of peace are coming to a close and the islands need protection. A tournament has been called, the Arenas are ready, the inhabitants of all the islands are gathering, and young heroes from across the realm are showing up to compete to be named a Tidal Blade: Hero of the Reef.
In Tidal Blades: Heroes of the Reef, each player takes the role of a young hero competing to be named a Tidal Blade. The tournament takes place over 5 Days and Nights. By gathering the needed resources, signing up to compete in Challenges and timing your arrival at different islands you can make the most of your Hero’s turns and rise in the ranks of the contestants.
Each day you will send your hero to take actions on the different Locations and to undertake Challenges. Each action will gain you the resource or effect listed on the action space as well as the Location bonus. At the Arenas you may then attempt a Challenge that matches your Location, and at the Fold you may battle a monster. Completing Challenges and fighting monsters will advance your character in the four traits of Focus, Spirit, Resilience and Synergy.
Each Tidal Blade will be judged at the end of the 5 rounds based on the Challenges they have completed, the level of each of their Traits, their standing on the Champions Board, and the monsters they have fought.

| Amazing game! This game contains so much and is really really well designed, the art and gameplay is amazing. The hardest part of the game is to chose what to do since theres sooo many ways to play. Every character have their own preferred traits to guide you but you can play however you like and it will still work. Also, you can block other players from performing some actions which bring a very nice dynamics to the game and might sabotage your plans! | |

| Ce jeu offre une grande rejouabilité avec une belle profondeur. J'aime le fait qu'il y a un mode avancé lorsque nous maitrisons le jeu, ce qui permet d'ajouter encore plus d'éléments. Pour ceux qui joue plus souvent à 2 joueurs, le jeu s'adapate très bien : l'IA est bien fait. Et pour finir, le jeu est vraiment magnifique ! |

| This game is nice for the dice management aspects. We've only played at 2-players, which was good. Even at two players, the worker spots we wanted were often taken by the other player. I can imagine that at 4 players this would be a bit much. The components are very nice, and the worldbuilding is cool and original. | |

| Depuis l'achat de ce jeu, j'ai enchainer les parties, c'est une peu addictif. Ce jeu est complet, placement d'ouvriers judicieux, actions spéciales avec les stunts, challenges importants pour faciliter les combats avec les monstres. Oui, il a y des dés, mais les choix de dés et les upgrades rendent le jeu pas si aléatoires, c'est pas seulement de la chance. Bref, un gros gros coup de coeur sur toute la ligne. | |

| J'adore ce jeu! J'avais joué avec un ami qui avait la version Kickstarter et je l'attendais depuis un bon moment! Très agréable, beau matériel, intéressantes mécaniques. Bref, on a un certain nombre d'actions pour faire des défis, améliorer ses compétences et combattre des monstres. Il faut gérer habilement nos actions pour avancer le plus possible. J'adore! | |

| Dès l'ouverture de la boîte, on est émerveillé. Quelle qualité de production fantastique. J'ai apssé près de deux heures à lire les règles (et à faire la mise en place) mais le livret d'instructions est très clair. J'adore le mélange de placement d'ouvriers et de roulement de dés... | Premièrement, le jeu est simplement superbe! Le design est vraiment immersif et ne fait pas trop enfantin malgré ses allure un peu cartoon. Pour ce qui est de la jouabilité, le système d'évolution des dés est très intéressant. La gestion des dés est également intéressante, il ne faut pas toujours jouer tout nos dés car on ne pourra plus faire de défis dans les tours suivants et encore pire, si on va dans le reef pour se battre contre un monstre, on perd tout simplement les dés engagé au combat. Par contre, si on parvient à vaincre le monstre on obtient généralement une très bonne récompense, en particulier si les adversaire n'on pas participés. En bref, le jeu est magnifique, contraignant juste à souhait et le déplacement d'iles en iles pour choisir nos actions rend le jeu tout simplement excellant. |

| Encore une fois, Tim Eisner nous apportes un titre fabuleux. Le visuel du jeu est exquis. Un placement d'ouvrier crève-coeur, un peu de chance avec les combats aux dès, et une foule de choix différent d'évoluer vos personnes. | A great entry-level Euro game | |
| First thing that you notice when you open the box is how beautiful the art is. The colors just pop out of every component. The game is a relatively straightforward euro and not that complex to get started, but still has some depth to it as to keep interesting. I was reluctant to get the retail version as opposed to the Kickstarter deluxe version, but honestly the standees feature the great art so I don’t miss the minis, and the resource tokens are still very attractive and work as intended. Plus the retail version offered here is half the price and the deluxe version and has a much more manageable sized box. Great for families with older tweens that want more complexity than Pandemic and Ticket To Ride but not ready to dive into Anachrony yet;) |

Il y a plusieurs stratégies / options à considérer pour bien apprivoiser le jeu, mais le jeu demeure amusant tout en étant d'une bonne complexité. Demande beaucoup d'espace, mais cela est justifié (Jeux pour joueurs expérimentés). | |
