From 2007 to 2010, fifteen twenty-five cent coins were issued to celebrate the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games. The series include ten winter sports designs, two paralympic special issues and three designs that represent previous Canadian Winter Olympics medals.  Also, two Lucky Loon were issued as a good luck symbol to support canadian athletes in 2008 and 2010.
This 25-cent coin isthe first coin in the top Olympic Winter moments: it is the goldmedal of the serie.
There is a variant of the 2009 quarter commemorating the Men's Hockey gold medal won during the2002 winter olympics of Salt Lake City.
The mistake can be found on the ''2002'' engraving located on the hockey player's leg. On the most commonplace coin, you can notice a spaceengraved around the 2. This coin is called the Men's Hockey with engraved 2.
On the variant, this space around the 2 cannot be found. The 2 is located directly on the player's leg without any contour. This coin is called the Men's Hockey with the raised 2.
