AMERICAN WOMEN
Juliette Gordon Low "D"
This quarter is the second in 2025 and 17th overall in the American Women Quarters Program.
The American Women Quarters™ Program is a four-year series celebrating the accomplishments and contributions made by women to the development and history of the U.S. Beginning in 2022, and continuing through 2025, the Mint will issue five new quarters each year featuring reverse designs honoring a group of prominent American women.
Juliette Gordon Low is featured on the seventeenth coin released in this program.
Juliette Gordon Low founded the Girl Scouts of the United States of America on March 12, 1912, in Savannah, Georgia. The organization started with 18 girls and has grown to approximately 2.5 million adult and girl members worldwide.
The reverse (tails) depicts a likeness of Juliette Gordon Low next to the original Girl Scout trefoil, which she designed and patented. The inscriptions are “JULIETTE GORDON LOW” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” with “QUARTER DOLLAR” and “FOUNDER of GIRL SCOUTS of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA” inscribed around the coin’s border.
The common obverse (heads) depicts a portrait of George Washington. This design was originally composed and sculpted by Laura Gardin Fraser as a candidate entry for the 1932 quarter, which honored the bicentennial of George Washington’s birth.
