Description
Maple Leaves with Queen Elizabeth II Effigy (2003)
The reverse image by Canadian artist Celia Godkin featurestwo sugar maple leaves. Pointing downward, the overlapping leaves areattached by their stems to a single twig at the top of the image. Theleaves are engraved with careful precision using a variety of textures to lend depth to the image. The obverse design features the fourth portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to appear on Canadian coinage in 2003, when she was 77 years old. The effigy is reminiscent of that of her father, His Majesty King George VI, who acceded to the thronein his later years and also chose to be portrayed not wearing the Crown.

The third coin of the series, released in September 2015, depicts the Queen Elizabeth II (effigy of 1990).
