1954-2004
Since 1929, Tintin that valiant little reporter, has been criss-crossing our planet in every possible direction. From the land of theSoviets to the land of the Picaros, from the grand city boulevards tothe hidden pathways through the fields, adventure, mystery, and friendship have guided his steps as he makes his way through the whole History of the twentieth century.
An era that witnessed the first conqeust of the heavens, and also that of space. Tintin is there, and twenty years before the American expedition, it is he who first sets foot on the Moon!
For it is in 1954 that the book Explorers on the Moon sees thelight of day. The present homage celebrates the issue of two series of commemorative coins, in honour of the 50th anniversary of this fabulous adventure and of the 75th anniversary of the creation of Tintin and Snowy.
