Across Canada, the Holiday are a joyful time of celebration. One never seems to outgrow the magic of the Season - twinkling lights, the first snowfall, bringing home the Christmas tree.

For Canada's first settlers, obtaining a Christmas tree was quite an undertaking as they trudged through the snow in searchof the perfect specimen. Once found, the tree was felled by hand and dragged back to the homestead by a team of horses - a ride that filledwith excitement knowing the tree would soon be indoors, ready to be adorned with ribbons and garlands of dried fruit. For pioneers who lived life by necessity, what an uplifting moment it must have been.

Today, whether people visit their local nursery or venture out onto a tree farm, bringing home the Christmas tree remains a moment that signals winter's best-loved celebration has begun.
