Nunavut
Nunavut means "our land" in Inuktitut, the language of the Inuit who have populated the region for more than 4,000 years. The set's commemorative stamp portrays young Inuit children who represent the bright future of the new territory. Two Nunavut stamps capture the dawn of a northen spring, one a mint ussue and the other a day-of-issue release bearing the Canada Post official cancellation. The complementary coin, struck by the RoyalCanadian Mint, depicts an Inuit drum dance performance - an age-old ritual that thrives to this day.
