Description
The Consolidated B-24 Liberator was a strategic bomber, heavy transport, and patrol aircraft used by the United States during World War II. This all-metal, high-wing aircraft was powered by four Pratt & Whitney R-1830-65 engines of 1,200 HP each and featured the innovative Davis wing, which enhanced fuel capacity and flight performance. First flown in 1939, the B-24 entered mass production in 1942 and served in every major Allied operation in Europe and the Pacific, including the bombing of Ploiești and the Normandy landings. Over 18,000 units were built, including the widely used D, G, and J variants.
