Considering the Japanese origins behind Star Wars, Bandai's choice to hire Takayuki Takeya to depict classic characters from the series in samurai armor was and still is a stroke of total genius. Like many, I grew up on the old Kenner figures but these new Meisho Movie Realization toys from Bandai are just great. For those that do not know of Takayuki Takeya, he is a very famous Japanese artist that has worked on a huge number of things over the years. From designing the mecha and monsters in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children to the armor in the brutal live-action Hakaider, his career has been a long and interesting one. He has worked in toys and kits for a similarly long time too, with my first real contact with his work being the Lord of Byston Well figures, also by Bandai, for Aura Battler Dunbine.
