Carrying on the spirit established in the Winter Olympic Games in 2002, the Royal Canadian Mint issued a Lucky Loon as a good luck symbol for the 2004 Summer Olympic games in Athens, Greece. The RCM kept supporting canadian athletes by issuing a Lucky Loon each Olympic Games since then.
From 2007 to 2010, fifteen twenty-five cent coins were issued to celebrate the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games. The series include ten winter sports designs, two paralympic special issues and three designsthat represent previous Canadian Winter Olympics medals. Also, two Lucky Loon were issued as agood luck symbol to support canadian athletes in 2008 and 2010.
Vancouver 2010 coins are not available for sale outside Canada.
