Aircraft of The Seconde World War: Consolidated Canso
The flying boats of the Second World War were prized for their long-range flight capabilities, but it was an amphibious version of the Consolidated PBY Catalina seaplane that caught the eye of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). Re-designated as the Consolidated Canso and manufactured here in Canada, this legendary anti-submarine patrol bomber is brought to life once more on this third (and final) coin in the Aircraft of the Second World War series.
This coin is the third issue of the Aircraft of the Second World War collection.
The first coin of the series, released in January 2017, depicts the Hawker Hurricane.
The second coin of the series, released in February 2017, depicts the Avro Anson.
The third and the last coin of the series, released in March 2017, depicts the Consolidated Canso.
