Coin minted in 293 in Cyzicus under the authority of Emperor Maximianus.
Obverse: Draped and radiated bust, facing right. Legend: IMP C M A MAXIMIANVS PF AVG, abbreviation meaning in english "Emperor Maximianus, happy and pious"
Reverse: Jupiter handing a representation of victory to Maximianus on his right. Legend: CONCORDIA MILITVM, celebrating the union of the army. Mint mark S in field and XXI in overlay.
Maximianus was co-emperor with Diocletian in the tetrarchic system. He was Caesar from 385 to 386 and Augustus from 286 to 305. During his reign he governed the western part of the Empire. At the time of the minting of this coin, Maximianus was defending the border at the Rhine river.
