The Voyageur Games recall the spirit of yesteryear with hatchet throwing and sling shot contests as well as foot races in which men and women cross the line with 81.6 and 204.1 kg sacks on their backs. Oral historians preserve the Michif language and legends while the comedy fair, talent show, dances, and co-ed slowpitch tournament showcase modern Métis life. Guided tours of various historic sites pay tribute to Métis' past... returning a people to its roots - bringing them back to Batoche.
