Today, the events of these pivotal days are reenacted in pure Victorian fashion. The festival begins with the arrival of the "Fathers" at Peake's Wharf followed by a promenade upGreat George Street to Province House National Historic Site. A Gala Ball is also held - as it was done in 1864.
For four days, the past comes alive as prominent Canadians from over a century ago guide modern day visitors through Charlottetown historic buildings, landmark, and events. With a medley of concerts, traditional games, and eventsto choose from, festival-goers are treated to a myriad of cultural and hystoric delights. Among them, the Quartermaster Marine's evening Ship Light Up and Parade of Lights, the Heritage Military Display, the Tartan Tavern Tour Pub Crawl, wild blueberry brunch, and international busker performances.
