From the flame of the forest
On the blackened floor of a burned out forest, life returns with the stunning fireweed (Epilobium angustifolium. With vigorous suckers and a propensity to self-seed, it quickly covers the ground with 2.5 m (8 ft) tall plants, each topped with long spikes that are formed by a mass of individual 2 cm (3/4 in) blooms that open in succession from the bottom up.
