Description
Boreal Balsam Polar
The reverse features the mountainous western reach of the boreal forest with a Balsam Poplar in the foreground growing in its preferred habitat - an open space near water. Only a single branch is visible in this design, and it is beautifully crafted in colour to highlight the textural qualities of the tree’s bark, its emerging springtime buds and the delicate colouration of its red catkins. These drooping, cylinder-shaped flower clusters are designed for cross-pollination. Male flowers are redwhile female flowers are yellow, much larger, and grow on separate trees.
This coin is the fourth issue of the Forests of Canada collection.
The first coin of the series, released in March 2015, depicts the Carolinian Tulip-Tree.
The second coin of the series, released in May 2015, depicts the Coast Shore Pine.
The third coin of the series, released in July 2015, depicts the Columbia Yew Tree.
The fourth and the last coin of the series, released inSeptember 2015, depicts the Boreal Balsam Poplar.
FORESTS OF CANADA - BOREAL BALSAM POPLAR - 2015 CANADIAN COINS 04 is categorised COINS AND PAPER MONEY / 08- ROYAL CANADIAN MINT / 10- FLORA, FAUNA & NATURE and sold by l'Imaginaire, a store and specialised website.
