This coin is part of the 6-coin series Hall of Fame Captains.

Yvan “the Roadrunner” Cournoyer blew past many of the top blueliners of the 1960s and 1970s on his way to becoming a 10-time Stanley Cup champion with the Montreal Canadiens. The speedy right-winger is one of the NHL stars featured in this rectangular-shaped tribute to legendary Canadian leaders of an Original Six team.

The rectangular reverse features an official licensed photograph from the Hockey Hall of Fame. Reproduced in full colour, the action shot of Yvan Cournoyer was taken during his tenure as captain of the Montreal Canadiens (1975-1979). The image of the player from Drummondville, Quebec, is set within an engraved frame along with the colour logo of the Montreal Canadiens and the player’s name. The face value, “25 DOLLARS”, is also engraved above the year “2019”. The obverse includes the engraved word “CANADA” and features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
