A bit flat. | |
In the end, this scenario falls kind of flat for me. The "big bad" isn't very interesting (And fairly solvable unlike some past "big bads") and the exploration element doesn't really do anything new or unique. Further, after three plays, every time I feel like there's both not much demand for cluevering (Since, after a fairly early point, clues are useless beyond needing to clear a few critical rooms) and not much for the fighters to do either - one boss to beat up on and a small number of fairly weak other enemies. You can kind of feel what they were trying to do with the enemy interactions, but there's no real reason to not just step on them and, because they lack hunter and it's a large map, they don't really combo off each other. Even the Captured mechanic (Which is the new thing here) ends up being a fairly "meh" thing, as well as the final push which ends up being "Do this test enough times, which essentially removes the doom clock and you're not under much other pressure (Particularly at higher layer counts), or you're doomed because you can't reliably do that test a bunch of times." The player cards are, thankfully, a brighter spot. We have our first card changing classes (Holy Rosary) which looks to be a real winner, some interesting rogue exceptional build arounds and Spirit of Humanity (which is CRAZY good in the right decks, particularly Calvin and Agnes where it can be an archtype defining card). We've also got the obligatory upgraded mystic spell cycle and busted seeker card (Guided by the Unseen will be errated one way or another), but it's still overall a good set of cards |

A Light in the Fog | |

A light in the fog | |
